I'm Keeping My Promise
First of all I want to say thank you to all the members of the Resolutions Committee at the 2012 El Paso County Republican County Convention. I think you all did a good job.
Secondly I would like to share an old cliche that just somehow never gets old with me. Things happen for a reason. I was asked to be on the resolutions committee even though I had never been on that committee before. I said, what the heck. Putting resolutions together that could help create the official Republican Party of Texas platform could be a good thing. So I agreed. We heard resolutions ranging from issues dealing with chem-trails, jury duty parking, bi-lingual education, the federal reserve to funding for public libraries. But the one resolution that was submitted that made me be glad to volunteer for the committee was the resolution that dealt with the consolidation of Police and Sheriff's Department. Anybody who has read at least two of my previous blog posts or has accidentally ran into any of my Facebook postings knows that I have vowed to do everything in my power to keep Richard Wiles from getting reelected and doing everything in my power to keep the city and county from consolidating law enforcement services. I have said it so much that I was sent away to complete my 40 days and 40 nights covenant on Richard Wiles' campaign launch party. Was that just coincidental? Did the revelations posted on my blog come true? Or are my words striking a nerve.? Only he knows.
The person who proposed the resolution presented it to the committee and gave testimony on it. The testimony had a fiscally conservative message to it and sounded like something a conservative should support. Then I jumped into action. I explained to the committee members the real reason why El Paso County Sheriff Richard Wiles was pushing for the consolidation of law enforcement services. I told them that this was an attempt by Richard Wiles and Joyce Wilson to make Richard Wiles the ultimate law enforcement agent in El Paso County. Even though the resolution sounded like it would save ta payers money, I was able to convince them not to vote for the resolution citing the lawsuit by Diana Kirk that alleges that she was passed over as the replacement for Richard Wiles to promote Greg Allen who she alleges was not the best candidate for the position. If that wasn't enough, Alejandro Lozano, a former El Paso City Representative testified that Richard Wiles was against the idea when Lozano was on the city council because Wiles feared he would loose his job but now supports it because he knows he will be the ultimate law enforcement agent in El Paso. The resolution failed unanimously because the person who proposed it did not have enough information such as studies done to prove that a metro police department would in fact save tax payers money and prove that crime would decrease.
This was the only resolution that started off as being liked by most committee members but then was voted down after testimony. Like I said at the beginning of this post. Everything happens for a reason. I'm just glad I was able to be on that committee and was able to convince the resolutions committee that Wiles' attempts to lure conservatives to support his plan that would supposedly save tax payers money is an attempt of big brother trying to take over El Paso. I said I would consider something like this ONLY after the public corruption investigation was over and ALL the corrupt elected officials had been replaced by Constitution abiding officials who have the best interest of El Pasoans in mind and not their own power hungry interest.
To my buddy Bobby: I know you say I should just move on, but you have to admit, this was some sort of divine intervention.

Words from the "wise"
La Chancla (my dog flip flop) Sit, roll over, play dumb. Good boy. |
I'm going to to do something different today and take this opportunity to give credit where credit is due. We spend so much time talking about how wrong, loud, obnoxious, stupid, misguided they are. We talk about how they are opportunist who would even give up their own mother just to get ahead in life. But we never take time to tell them when they are right. Until today.
I really hate to admit it when a total loser is right but like I said earlier, I have to give credit where credit is due. In an article written in Newspaper Tree back in September 8, 2009; Jaime "The Lying Star Blob" tells all his readers what we have been saying all along.
"My basic point to Macias was the fact that Barraza was only elected because he was a Democrat and that if voters knew more about his history and political party was taken out of the equation, he wouldn't have won."That statement would still be true if you replace Barraza's name with many Democrat candidates or incumbents today. This is a perfect example of how somebody doesn't know how right they are. Knowing my dog, he will turn this around and say he would rather vote for a bad Democrat any day than vote for a good Republican. But either way people would like to know. Does The Lying Star Blob urge people to learn about the candidates and vote for the best candidate even if it is a Republican or does he urge them to continue the tradition of electing people who have a D next to their name on the ballot and continue to contribute to the corruption that plagues our city and surrounding communities? The people want to know.

Corruption; A Regional & Cultural Problem
Daniel Salinas was just elected as Sunland Park, NM's mayor shortly after being released from jail after being charged with extortion back in February. His supporters lined the streets with signs to show their support for their candidates who they swore was innocent of any wrong doing. Salinas turned himself in on Monday March 19th after a warrant for his arrest was issued. Salinas is now accused of offering to hire acting police chief Luis Monarez as the actual chief of police if Monarez would convince his sister not to run against one of Salinas preferred candidates for city council.
Sounds like a that Sunland Park residents should be worrying about, right? It doesn't affect us in any way in El Paso, does it?
We can make jokes about how dumb and naive people in Sunland Park, NM are all day long but what is that going to accomplish? People are quick to say that this is a New Mexico problem and just turn the other way. Well I hate to tell you, this isn't a New Mexico problem. This is a regional problem. Sunland Park, New Mexico is closer to my house than most of the West Side of El Paso. It is closer than Resler, Mesa and Redd Rd on I-10. We have to stop fooling ourselves. The corruption is a regional and cultural problem. Cultural? Before anybody gets on their little ACLU, LA Raza, left wing extremist hate trip, let me explain. I am not talking about people's ethnicity. I am talking about the collective patterns of human behavior and practices that we, and I use that loosely, have come to accept.
The good ol' "That's how we have always done it" excuse to justify any questionable activity is no longer acceptable. My response to that ignorant statement is "That just means you have always been doing it wrong."
Take off the blinders and open your eyes El Paso. I am not the first and I won't be the last to say the following. El Paso is under one of the largest public corruption scandals in history. You have people from different backgrounds, different positions, from several different parts of town but the most common denominator is their party affiliation. This part of Texas has been run by the Democrats for at least as long as I have been alive. How do we expect things to change when we keep electing people with the same values and the same goals into office? It is just the definition of insanity!
